Energy prices are easy to ignore until they are impossible to. In 2022, Andel Energi watched their 1.2 million customers become acutely aware of exactly what they were paying and when. The opportunity was to meet that awareness with something genuinely useful and genuinely engaging. Not an information campaign. A game.

Developed in close collaboration with Dwarf, who designed and built the game platform, Benny Box created the full illustration universe and animation for Familien Strøm. A family-based game where keeping the household happy and the electricity bill under control are one and the same challenge.

A family with personality

The visual world had to carry the weight of a complex subject without ever feeling heavy. Familien Strøm is built around a cast of characters with real personality and humour, a family that feels familiar enough to root for and expressive enough to make the stakes feel real. Every illustration and animation was designed to make the game feel like somewhere worth spending time, while the energy quiz and real electricity price data quietly did the educational work underneath.
