How do you make EU topics accessible, neutral, and relevant for young students in both primary and secondary education?
In collaboration with the Danish Parliament, we developed a series of educational videos as part of the teaching initiative “EU in the Classroom”. Through animation and clear illustrations, we helped turn some rather complex EU subjects into engaging and accessible content for both teachers and students.
The videos are part of a broader educational toolkit that also includes role-playing games, lesson plans, and teaching materials all developed in close collaboration between EU experts from the Danish Parliament and curriculum advisors from the Danish school system.
The goal? To equip young people with the knowledge and tools to form their own opinions presented without political bias, but with strong subject matter expertise and clear visual storytelling.
Beyond the eight educational films, we developed graphics for Folketinget as part of the wider teaching toolkit. These materials were designed to support assignments where students engage directly with political topics through structured exercises. The toolkit functions as both a physical and digital resource, allowing the same content to shift between printed props and online use. In the classroom, the printed materials act as tangible elements that encourage dialogue, collaboration, and shared reflection.

The two main characters, Oscar and Lily, were designed and rigged from multiple angles. This provided flexibility in staging and made it possible to maintain consistency across different scenes and narratives. In contrast, background characters were intentionally simplified to avoid competing for attention, particularly in scenes with large crowds.
Each of the eight films began as an animatic, establishing the structure, pacing, and key beats of the story. These early sequences guided decisions around scene composition, content, and character action throughout production. The process ensured a clear visual hierarchy while supporting efficient and cohesive storytelling across all films.
